Our
Biotech search practice is led by Shawn Barley. Entering
his fifth year of professional recruiting, he has
developed extensive ties within the Biotech, Pharmaceutical
and Diagnostic industries especially in the areas
of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Analytical
Development, Process Development, Regulatory Affairs,
Manufacturing and Clinical Research & Development.
He has worked with a wide range of talent from manufacturing
associates all the way to the upper echelons of executive
ranks including Chief Scientific Officers and Presidents.
He
has successfully helped corporations as large as Imclone
Systems and Johnson & Johnson to small entrepreneurial
ventures with as few as ten individuals in the organization.
While he works nationally (and internationally), his
strength is found in the Northeast including Maryland,
Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Massachusetts.
His
ability to listen, evaluate, identify and recruit
has earned him the distinction of "Pacesetter" for
four straight years as well as numerous "Recruiter
of the Month" titles within TRG and the "Recruiter
of the Year" Award in 2003. To date, Shawn has career
sales in excess of 1.5 million dollars.
"We
just don't run an ad," Shawn explains. "We actually
do research to find the most talented people available.
So we recruit the old fashioned way." But being old
fashioned doesn't mean being locked into only one
way of matching talent with companies that value them.
"One client really admired the talent of a certain
individual but was not able to hire him outright.
In this case, we were able to create a temp-to-perm
plan that satisfied everyone's concerns so we'll be
creative and flexible to achieve everyone's objectives."
His
ability to be focused on a goal is also reflected
in his personal pursuit of running which includes
participating in marathons. But he cautions that in
this talent marketplace, "if you can't move with speed,
you'll get left behind."
Originally
from Pittsburgh, he earned a degree in Political Science
from the University of Pittsburgh where he graduated
magna cum laude. A self-described "news addict," Shawn
is not afraid to talk politics with you whether you
are a Democrat, Republican or Independent. Prior to
joining TRG, he attended Physical Therapy school at
the Medical College of Virginia.
