Biotech, Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Specialist
“In today’s marketplace, if you can't move with speed, you'll get left behind."
Shawn Barley, leader of the biotech search practice, has developed extensive ties within the Biotech, Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic industries, especially in the areas of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Analytical Development, Process Development, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing and Clinical Research & Development.
Working with large corporations such as Imclone Systems and Johnson & Johnson as well as with small entrepreneurial ventures, Shawn places professionals ranging from manufacturing associates to high-ranking executives, including confidential retained searches for chief scientific officers and presidents. While he works both nationally and internationally, his strength is concentrated in the Northeast.
"We don't just post jobs," Shawn says. "We actually do research to find the most talented people available – we recruit the old-fashioned way." But that doesn't mean being locked into one way of matching professionals with companies that value them. "A client really admired the talent of a certain individual but was not able to hire him outright. In this case, we were able to create a temp-to-perm plan that satisfied both sides. We find creative and flexible solutions to achieve everyone's objectives.”
Shawn is supported by a team of full-time recruiters, research analysts and support personnel who focus on sourcing and identifying talent, gathering industry intelligence and leveraging technology to ensure that each search is as complete and exhaustive as possible. Ranked as a “Pacesetter” for five consecutive years, his ability to listen, evaluate, identify and recruit has resulted in career sales in excess of 2.4 million dollars.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Shawn earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh where he graduated magna cum laude. His ability to focus on a goal is reflected in his personal pursuit of running, which includes participating in marathons. A self-described "news addict," he is not afraid to talk politics to Democrats, Republicans or Independents. Prior to joining TRG, he attended Physical Therapy school at the Medical College of Virginia.
